Parents, attention! Children, Diving & Safety

Children’s psychology and physiology may impose certain restrictions on their ability to go diving:

  • In most cases, children freeze quickly, even in warm water. And they don't like to admit it.
  • It is more difficult for children to move around in a thick neoprene suit and heavy flns.
  • Children’s cardiopulmonary system may lead to problems under prolonged physical efforts.
  • Children may be inclined to overestimate their strength or to underestimate the danger.
  • Children may not fully understand the basic basics of safe behavior underwater.
  • Children are more easily susceptible to group pressure, especially from parents.
  • Children can strive to complete the task "at any cost" without taking into account the consequences.

With these and other issues in mind, we advise the following:

  • Pay full attention when filling out the medical questionnaire and the liability exemption statement.
  • Do not rush to introduce children to diving if your kid is not yet ready in terms of physical or psychological qualities.
  • Start with simpler programs: Discover Scuba Diving (1 day and 2 dives). If the child liked it and everything is going well, continue training to the Junior Scuba Diver level (2 more days). If he is still interested and have the strength.
  • Junior Open Water Diver course can be completed  in one more day. In Dolphin, the cost of the previous course will be included in the price of the next one, provided that all courses take place within the same trip.
  • Be prepared for the fact that the course for a child will take longer time than for an adult student.
  • Do not put pressure on the child. Try not to interfere with the instructor's work.
  • Do not reproach for mistakes, but encourage the slightest successes and achievements.
  • Never exceed the depth and difficulty limits set for children; either during the course or after the course has ended. When your child receives the certificate, try to dive together more often.· Always purchase diving insurance for yourself and your children.
